However, the staining for the hepatic progenitor cell marker cytokeratin 7 (B and C) shows the presence of hepatic progenitor cells (arrowheads) and intermediate hepatocyte-like cells (arrows) distributed in a “starry sky” pattern against a background of mature hepatocytes.
