Production of reactive oxygen species and expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase in rat isolated Kupffer cells stimulated by Leptospira interrogans and Borrelia burgdorferi

Figure 1 Chemiluminescence (CL) detection of reactive oxygen species generation by Kupffer cells stimulated by L. interrogans and B.burgdorferi. Kupffer cells were incubated in triplicate with borrelia (white circles) and leptospira (black circles) preparations at various bacteria/KC ratio, for 3 h in the presence of 0.6 mM luminol. The chemiluminescence emissions were acquired at 2 min intervals for 3 h. The experiments were repeated three times, and data points represent the mean ± SD of the integrated chemiluminescence signal, normalized to that of the control.
